I’m going to explain exactly what you need to do, to every website you own, which you want to improve the on-page SEO off, this is very basic stuff, but I’ve said previously, on-page SEO isn’t really that important, yeah you need to do it, but you don’t have to spend hours and hours doing it, in fact on-page SEO is quite quick compared to off-page SEO.
1) Make sure every page of your website gets indexed, this means you need a link to every single page on your website, I suggest you also create a sitemap, submit that to Google as well, so they know all of your pages, but linking to them/from them is a good idea as well.
2) Unique content, now this is again, debated a lot, but it’s always best to have unique content, I suggest you stick with unique content for now, at least for your first couple of projects, using duplicate content will get you sandboxed and it’s a pain when it’s one of your first few websites which gets sandboxed.
3) SEO Friendly URLs, I keep seeing websites with stupid URLs, like page00343.html – Why not just name is about_us.html? Then people will know from the URL what the page is mainly about? So spiders (Search Engines) will too!
4) Use header tags wherever possible, this requires some CSS if your doing the template yourself, but use H1/H2 tags to specify keywords, for example a title of a page, use a H1, for a sub title, H2, for a sub-sub title H3, at least that’s what I do.
5) Use alt tags on images, to explain what the image is about or a keyword to that image, basic but works.
